EdgeMax LEDS For Edge Lighting Large Light Boxes

Two years ago Snapper Display Systems introduced the EdgeMax LED strip to the Australian market. These LED strips have high output LEDs with specially shaped beams for use in light boxes as an alternative to fluorescent tubes and light guide panels.
EdgeMax LED Strip
Today we almost exclusively use EdgeMax LEDs in our 87mm deep Executive snap frame boxes and KS15/74 Fabric Frameless Series light boxes as well as our double sided light boxes, because EdgeMax LEDs use less power than traditional T5 and T8 fluorescent tubes and they give off a lot less heat than the fluorescent tubes too.
A further benefit of using EdgeMax LEDs is that although the light boxes can be huge they can remain comparatively thin at 80 to 100mm deep for single sided light boxes and 120 to 180mm thick for double sided light boxes.
EdgeMax LED Edge Lit Light Box With The Cover Removed
As seen in the picture above where the poster is removed, EdgeMax LEDs only need to be placed on 2 of the opposing sides of a light box.
Since introducing the EdgeMax LED strip onto the market we are now able to offer these LED strips in 3 power levels.
--Standard range – for light boxes up to 1200mm wide – 8.4W.
-- PE range – for light boxes 1200 up to 2000mm wide – 12.5W.
- -TE range – for light boxes 2000 up to 2800mm wide and wider – 13.4W.
EdgeMax LED strips have a cool white colour of 6500K and are 360mm long with 5 LEDs per strip and run on 24V DC power.
Waterproof EdgeMax LED strips and power supplies are also available for outdoor use and there is also a range of RGB EdgeMax LEDs that can create some really interesting effects on your displays. By varying the colour you can make different items pop out and become much more noticeable.
Green EdgeMax LED Strips
EdgeMax LEDs can be used to light up all the traditional light boxes that used to use fluorescent tubes as well as our new light box styles such as the Frameless Fabric Series.
Furthermore existing light boxes can be easily retrofitted with EdgeMax LEDs and 24V power supplies to make them more energy efficient. Any light box deeper than 80mm can be a candidate for use with EdgeMax LED strips.
A further benefit of EdgeMax LEDs is that in conjunction with our Fabric Frameless Series light boxes, it allows us the install all the lighting on the extrusion and ship the light box in knock down form thus drastically reducing the cost of freight and crating. These light boxes are especially well suited to large displays at exhibitions.
Should the need arise for thinner light boxes Snapper Display Systems is able to offer a range of slimline light box solutions which includes:
-- Aurora19 and Aurora25 LED edge lit light boxes which are only 19 or 25mm thick and have a magnetic acrylic front panel
-- UniLite18 – an 18mm snap frame style light box
-- UltraSlim13 – a 13mm thick, 32mm wide snap frame style light box which is ideal for menu boards
-- Ultra32 – a 32mm thick, 65mm wide, snap frame style LED edge-lit light box for larger sizes
-- For extra-large sizes, Snapper Display Systems is able to make modified versions of the above light boxes with depths varying from 38mm to 57mm to enable customers to nominat            light boxes up to 3m x 2m or sometimes even longer
-- Magneto50 – 50mm thick light box with extra strong magnets for extra-large sized magnetic faced light boxes. The Magneto50 is either edge lit using a light diffusing panel and                      UltraBrite LED strips or for a brighter light it can be lit using the 40x40mm back lighting LED Matrix
-- Magneto100 - 100mm light box with extra strong magnets for extra-large sized magnetic faced light boxes. The Magneto100 is very versatile and can be lit using EdgeMax LEDs,                 40x40mm LED Matrix, 50x50mm LED Matrix or with UltraBrite LED strips and a light diffusing panel
Large EdgeMax LED Edge Lit Fabric Frameless Series Light Boxes
As seen in the picture above, EdgeMax LEDs are ideal for edge lighting large reasonably thin light boxes. They produce a bright evenly distributed lighting effect at very similar production costs of light boxes that use fluorescent tubes with the benefit of using only a 1/3 of the power of a fluorescent tube light box. Yes, that is correct, 1/3 of the power, not 1/3 less power. That is a 67% saving on your power bills.
